Nimo community tasks coach Igboka on youth sports development

  • Athletics coach, Johnny Igboka has been tasked to double his efforts in producing more sports talents in Anambra State, and Nigeria in general.
This charge was made by the Nimo Community in Anambra State, while the national high jump  and grassroots development coach was being decorated with an award recently.

The community pleaded to support his efforts at discovering athletics and other sports talents in the State. One talent that has emerged from the privately run sports academy, was Ebelechukwu Agbapuonwu who won an IAAF World Championships 400m silver medal for her adopted country, Bahrain at the 2017 Worlds in London.

“I am very pleased that my efforts are being recognised by the community. They have pledged to support the All Saints Sports Academy with cash and in kind,” coach Igboka said yesterday.

“Of course it has always been our cry for coaches to be supported. This is because in Nigeria, there are so many sports talents waiting to be discovered, but how can we the coaches work, when there is no motivation,” he asked
